Excerpt from the Fall 2025 Extension
Nick Davis served for several years as director of continuing education at Wright State University’s Kettering Center and as president and then treasurer of the Wright State Retirees Association. He died in 2010.The Retirees established a scholarship in his name that grants monies each year to students who are related to WSU retirees. Nick and his wife, Bea, made generous donations to get it started. In 2025-2026, there were five students awarded for a total of $7,375.
The family members related to the applicant do not have to be members of WSURA. They can be aunts or uncles, grandparents, step-grandparents, or first cousins once removed. All the student has to do to be considered for an award is identify the relative or relatives who worked at Wright State on the scholarship application. Please remind your Wright State student family members of this opportunity.
Davis graduated from Oakwood High School and attended the University of Michigan before being appointed to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. In the Navy, he served active duty in the Korean War. After returning to Dayton, Davis was employed by Chrysler Airtemp for more than 20 years, during which time he received his MBA from Xavier University. Upon his retirement from Chrysler, he became director of continuing education at the Kettering Center.
Davis was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where he served as president of the parish council and co-chairman of the Greek Festival for many years. He and his wife Bea traveled the world as members of the Friendship Force and Elderhostel, establishing many lifelong friendships. Nick was an avid runner and enjoyed participating in the annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.
