Excerpt from the Dayton Daily News

The U.S. Department of Education recently awarded Wright State University a $2.5 million grant to bring artificial intelligence education to rural Ohio.

The grant will target current students training to become teachers and those in the university’s Instructional Design and Learning Technologies master’s degree program, housed under the School of Education and Leadership.

DOE funded the award through the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education. It supports a project called “Strengthening American Competitiveness with AI Education.”

It aims to bring more AI education to rural Ohio and rural Kansas. Wright State is collaborating with Kansas State University and the University of Florida, which is observing and providing feedback, on this project.

“This four‑year award underscores Wright State University’s commitment to workforce‑driven education and innovation and reflects the university’s leadership in artificial intelligence education and applied research,” Wright State Provost Jim Denniston said.
