Dr. Barbara E Hull, 76, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026. Born September 26, 1949, in Lawrence, Kansas, the second child (of six) of June and Joseph Hull (both deceased).
Dr. Hull graduated as valedictorian from Danvers (Massachusetts) High School in 1967 and received an AB in Biochemistry from Smith College in 1971. She earned her PhD in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from University of Colorado in 1976, followed by post-doctoral work at Yale University and MIT. She joined the faculty at Wright State University in 1983 where she served until she was named professor emeritus in 2018.
Dr. Hull instructed undergraduate and graduate students within the College of Science and Mathematics. Her primary instructional areas included: cell biology, histology, and microbiology & laboratory techniques. Her research focused on advanced cell biology and tissue engineered therapeutics.
Dr. Hull thoroughly enjoyed ocean cruises including many trips to Alaska and Antarctica along with various river trips. She spent numerous summers hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with friends and family. Always the teacher, she frequently spent weekends at dog agility training practices and competitions over the years. She was a voracious reader—particularly of mystery stories.
Survivors include her five siblings, a sister in law and two nephews.
