More than 2,400 students moved into Wright State dorms beginning Wednesday, Aug. 19, with an increase in enrollment projected, said Sue Edwards, Wright State University president.
“I miss the students every summer,” Edwards said. “It’s just me and the geese, and they’re not very friendly, so it’s just really great to have campus back being vibrant.”
Move-in went smoothly this year, with less traffic and fewer issues, Wright State officials said. The weather also cooperated.
Students picked up their keys and other items at the Nutter Center’s parking lot this year due to construction at the front of campus off of Colonel Glenn Highway. The university is spending $4.5 million to install a roundabout and revamp the front of campus. A Chick-fil-A restaurant is set to go in near the front of Wright State’s campus.
The roundabout is complete, but the remaining construction is set to finish next spring, said Deena John, a spokeswoman for Wright State.
Edwards noted that the change in location is a more direct route to the freshmen dorms, which are closer to the Nutter Center.
