John M. Kimble, 85, Director of Graduate Studies

John M. Kimble, 85, of Englewood, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on April 20, 2025. He was born on Jan. 31, 1940, to the late George and Florence (Glynn) Kimble in Dayton.

He was an Educational Officer in the Air Force for many years before he retired with his rank as a major. After his retirement from the military, John was a director of Graduate Studies at Wright State University for 26 years before he retired.

He proudly served his country in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. John had a wealth of knowledge that came from his enormous passion for cars. He owned a ’69 Chevelle and collected numerous model cars. He and his wife, Eliane, were both long time members of St. Paul Catholic Church in Englewood. Above all, John was a faithful man who enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, especially his wife and best friend, Eliane.

John is survived by his wife of 63 years: Eliane Sylvie (Vesperini) Kimble, special support system of family; nieces: Maggie (Frank) Conley, Mary Avery, Corinne (Marko) Markiewicz, nephews: Jack Mayer, and Tusi & John Mayer. There are numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, father and mother-in-law: Paul and Marinette Vesperini, and brother-in-law: Antoine Vesperini.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on April 29, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church (1000 Wenger Rd., Englewood, OH 45322). A Graveside Service with Military Honors followed at the Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton (324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420) for the tremendous care and hospitality that they continuously showed John and his family.
