Voters will go to the polls on Nov. 3 deeply dissatisfied with the state of the nation, with record low approval ratings for the president and growing anger about national economic conditions and the conflict with Iran. Pundits are predicting major upsets in races across the country, including in the Senate and Gubernatorial races in Ohio, but past elections where results defied the polls are on many minds.

You’re invited to join your fellow retirees and Lee Hannah, Ph.D., after election day to discuss the results of the midterm elections and what they mean for the nation and the state on Thursday, Nov. 19, 1–2:30 p.m. in Room 157 of the Student Union on campus.
Lee Hannah is director of the Master of Public Administration Program and a professor of political science in the WSU School of Social Sciences and International Studies. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from Penn State. His research and teaching focus on public policy and political institutions.
He is the co-author, along with Daniel Mallinson (Penn State Harrisburg), of Green Rush: The Rise of Medical Marijuana in the United States, published by NYU Press in July 2024. He also has published peer-reviewed work in several academic journals, and his research has been featured in major media outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, NBC, USA Today, Newsweek, Time, NPR, and The Guardian.
This event will take place in the Atlantis Room, 157 Student Union. It is free and open to the public, but advance registration is requested. To register, submit the form below by Wednesday, Nov. 17. If you prefer, you may register by sending your name and the names of any guests you wish to bring to wsura@swright.edu. Please put “Election” in the subject line of your email.
