Excerpt from the Dayton Daily News
One of the first people to welcome Brad Chandler, the new Wright State athletics director, to town was his University of Dayton counterpart, Neil Sullivan.
“He reached out right away and congratulated me when I got the job,” Chandler said. “He sent a text saying, ‘Let’s get together’ and we met and had coffee.
“He’s a great guy and we had a great conversation.”
Then, with a pause, a bit of a smile and a shrug, Chandler added, “But he did reiterate: ‘We’re not going to play you guys in men’s basketball!’
“I offered up an exhibition. I said we’d come to their place; whatever they wanted.”
That didn’t melt the UD deep freeze that has been in place since the last game between the two schools was played 29 years ago.
